1. Verify your Eligibility
The first step in preparing for your exam is to review the eligibility criteria.
2. Review the Exam Blueprint
Find out the contents of the exam and what you’ll be tested on. The exam blueprint can also help you prepare for the exam because it breaks down the sections of the test.
3. Complete the Exam Application
Be sure you enter your name on your application exactly as it appears on your government issued photo ID.
About 3-5 weeks after submitting your application, the testing agency, Center for Nursing Education and Testing (C-NET), will email and mail your exam permit or contact you for more information.
4. Start Studying
There is no reason to wait to start preparing for the exam! There are several excellent study resources available to you for the Certified in Care Coordination and Transition Management (CCCTM®) exam. They vary on material, learning styles, and cost. Some are even free!
5. Schedule your Exam
Your exam permit will list the 90-day window within which you have to take your exam. Confirm that your name is listed on your permit exactly as it appears on your government issued photo ID. If they do not match, call C-NET immediately at 800-463-0786, ext. 11 for assistance.
The permit will also contain information about how to contact the testing center to schedule. Schedule early within your window.
6. Make Your Final Preparations
If you are going to an unfamiliar exam site, locate the address, building, and room in advance of your exam date and if possible, drive to the location before your test date. Make sure to take into consideration traffic patterns and other circumstances when considering drive time.
The night before the exam, make sure to get plenty of sleep and set aside anything you'll need to bring with you (such as your photo ID and a sweater or jacket).
The day of the exam, eat something, allow plenty of time to arrive to the site, and calm your nerves using whatever healthy techniques work best for you.
Finally, take a deep breath and do your best! You possess a wealth of experience and the examination will allow you to demonstrate that knowledge. Good luck!
