MSNCB Supports Certification Advocacy Project

MSNCB recently joined a group of specialty nursing organizations in a project promoting medical-surgical nursing certification as a way to meet a state's continuing education (CE) and continuing competence (CC) requirements. The group will also help encourage employers to promote and reward certified medical-surgical nurses. Nine MSNCB representatives will attend a training workshop this month, led by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN), and share updates in the future.

Starving for Attention: Learn More about Patient Nutrition

The Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), the affiliate nursing association of MSNCB, has been working with an interprofessional team of the Alliance to Advance Patient Nutrition to combat malnutrition in hospitalized patients. Two articles have been printed recently about this crucial topic. To learn more, including how you can help improve your patients' outcomes through better nutrition, visit the Alliance website and click the links below:

Every CMSRN Deserves a 'Thank You'

CMSRNs

MSNCB surveyed CMSRNs and learned a great deal about how you need us to help serve and support you. One message was loud and clear: certified nurses want to be appreciated. So we expanded this section of our web site — and added some tools — to help recognize and reward CMSRNs. If you're a manager or administrator, please visit the page; if you're a clinical RN, please share the link with your supervisor. (And, by the way, thanks for all you do. : ))

Just for You

Jumping with Ghee: A Tastier Butter

If you're avoiding dairy, or you just want to take your food to a new level, try ghee. What is it? Butter that has been simmered slowly (low heat is best) and the water and milk solids rendered out. It's delicious; toasty and nutty. Tips to remember: ghee is HOT! Use a heatproof container to pour it into when done, hand protection to pick anything up, and if using a sieve with your cheesecloth, use a metal one. Three recipes to choose from:
