MSNCB Volunteer Opportunities Available

All volunteers are required to sign a Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Agreement.

MSNCB Board of Director

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) is seeking to fill one RN Director position. The individual selected to serve as a Director will have a term beginning October 2020 and ending September 2023, with the potential to be appointed for an additional three-year term. Each Director is required to attend two onsite meetings and all conference calls.

The first onsite meeting is a planned for September/October 2020 (TBD 1-2 days if in-person) and the second meeting is planned for March 2021 (2 1/2 days). Note: These meetings may be switched to virtual meetings due to COVID-19. If meetings are held in-person, MSNCB will cover all meeting expenses as described in MSNCB policies.

To be considered for the position, you are required to have your own personal computer, laptop, or tablet with a webcam. MSNCB covers travel expenses.

General Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year in a leadership/management position preferred (practice or voluntary).
  • Free of commitment with any other organization which could present a conflict.
  • Possess the competencies and exhibit the critical behaviors as stated in MSNCB Board Competencies (provided in the application)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Medical-Surgical nursing, at least two years of which have been in the past 5 years.
  • Knowledge of the credentialing and certification process.
  • CMSRN certified.
  • Baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing preferred.
  • Member of AMSN required.

CMSRN Item Writers & Reviewers Committee

This committee develops new questions for the exams and reviews current questions. This group works closely with our testing agency, Prometric.

This committee meets one weekend a year, usually in July. If meetings are held in-person, MSNCB will cover all meeting expenses as described in MSNCB policies. Due to COVID-19, a training workshop may take place virtually and then SMEs will receive assignments to work on your own.

To be considered for this committee, you are required to have your own personal computer, laptop, or tablet with a webcam.

General Qualifications:

  1. Minimum three years' experience in medical-surgical nursing, at least two years of which has been in the five years immediately preceding appointment
  2. CMSRN certified required
  3. Baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing preferred
  4. Committee experience preferred

    Tenure of MSNCB Volunteers
    Volunteers are appointed for a 3-year term and may be reappointed for an additional, 3-year term.

CMSRN Certification Renewal Committee

Certification Renewal Auditors receive 1-2 application per week to confirm the reported contact hours meet the requirements set forth by the certification board.

To be considered for this committee, you are required to have your own personal computer, laptop, or tablet with a webcam.

General Qualifications

  1. Minimum three years' experience in medical-surgical nursing, at least two years of which has been in the five years immediately preceding appointment
