Summer Updates: Award Recipient, CCTM News, and a New Board Member

Mimi Haskins

Dear CMSRN colleagues,

Hello and happy summer!

Although this is usually a lazy, hazy time of year, for MSNCB it has been a busy, crazy time of year. The Board has been working on many projects, and this means I have some important and fun news to share with all of you.

Mimi Haskins

Distinguished and Extraordinary

I am pleased to announce we have our first CMSRN of Distinction Award recipient! On behalf of the Board, I would like to congratulate Patricia Peck, BSN, RN, CMSRN, of Oak Lawn, IL.

Patricia will be recognized and receive her award at the AMSN Annual Convention this September in Las Vegas. Stay tuned to the MSNCB Website where we will be posting more information about Patricia in the near future. I would also like to thank Cris Gonzales and the Distinction Award Task Force for all their hard work. There were some excellent candidates and the group did a wonderful job in reviewing everyone and selecting a winner.

Care Coordination Exam Update

And now for the latest about the new Certified in Care Coordination and Transition Management (CCCTM) exam.

More than 350 people took the practice exam, and we have received positive feedback from them regarding the questions and content.

Added to that, we are continuing our information gathering with a practice analysis to determine the activities performed in current CCTM nursing practice. The results will be used to validate the content of the CCCTM exam.

Again, thanks to Wes Foster and his CCTM Certification Task Force and item writers for all the remarkable work they have done in such a short period of time.

A Warm Welcome

Last but certainly not least, I would like to welcome Julie Alban, MSN, MPH, RN-BC, a care coordinator from Belleview, FL, to the MSNCB Board. Julie will be representing the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) and will join us in September. We are looking forward to having her.

I hope to see all of you at the AMSN Convention! Please, please, do not hesitate for a second to come up and say hello (we share a booth with AMSN in the exhibit hall if I miss you during the other events).

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
