Certification Board of Directors

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) is seeking to fill two RN Director positions and a Public Member Director position. Those selected to serve as a Director will have a term beginning October 2017 and ending September 2020, with a potential to be appointed for an additional three-year term. Each Director is required to attend two meetings and all conference calls.

All Director Qualifications

  • At least 1 year in a leadership/management position preferred (practice or voluntary).
  • Free of commitment with any other organization which could present a conflict.
  • Possess the competencies and exhibit the critical behaviors as stated in MSNCB Board Competencies.

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Medical-Surgical nursing or Care Coordination and Transition Management, at least two years of which have been in the past 5 years.
  • Knowledge of the credentialing and certification process.
  • Certified by MSNCB.
  • Baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing preferred.
  • Member of AMSN preferred.

Public Member Qualifications:

  • Must have a willingness to serve, and ability to communicate effectively, including listening and considering others input.
  • Views specialty nursing certification as a means for public protection.
  • May be involved with consumer advocacy groups or issues and have interest in healthcare as it relates to protection of the public.
  • May not be a Registered Nurse or involved with any nursing certification body, nor can s/he concurrently serve on the Board of Directors of any ABNS member organization.
